Ok - all you dealers, salesfolks and other 'insiders,' should be getting home from the NSPO show about now. Please tell us: how was the show? What's new?
Did they finally announce that system which keeps spas perfectly clean and safe without any chems?
Pictures?

I have a question for the people who went to the show from California. How is the flight from California to Vegas? I am thinking of making a one day/night trip when I am in California in February. I received a great offer when I am out there from Mandalay Bay only 100.00 bucks for a night. Wondering if it is worth it.

I haven't done it for awhile, but I remember that it just gets up to altitude and then begins the descent. Not overy expensive if you shop a bit - and the LV airports (there are two main one) have plenty of free shuttles to hotels and casinos on the strip.

Mandalay Bay is a pretty cool hotel. Their c0cktail waitresses have very nice uniforms. ;)
The restaurant where the wine servers get hoisted up and down on cables is almost worth it just to see.
But the hotel is at the far end of the strip. Now that the new monorail is up and running (again) getting around may be a bit easier.
Also, try seeing what rates you can get at the Bellagio, Caesars Palace, or Mirage. Those hotels are more centrally located on the strip.
Be sure to catch the light show at the Bellagio Fountain. Simply Breathtaking the first time you see it.
The downtown area is also a fun way to spend an evening, the Freemont Street Experience is pretty cool.

To be perfectly honest,i hate flying to Vegas. It can be very bumpy going over the moutains. But it is a very quick flight.I would rent a car and drive,it's only about 4 hours and you dont have to pay for cabs when you get there. Also it is a very easy drive.

I know Vegas well, probably to well. I go to Vegas at least once a year for some vacation, but I have never traveled from California to Vegas just wondered if it is worth it.
I checked online and it looks like it is only an hour flight or so. I think I am going to book it, but anymore opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Just flew from LA to Vegas and back. Less than an hour flight and easy.

I've made the flight from Oakland to San Fran, they don't even put the wheels up.

I have always wondered - how do those places pay for all that incredible lighting, fancy fountains, giant towers and other amazing stuff??? I mean, they don't even charge sales tax !!

They get by on donations alone. I've found it in my heart to leave the good folk running those establishments a donation or two over the years.

That's very kind.
Doc and I are thinking about starting up a spa testing and rating service. Care to contribute to that? We will most likely be a non-profit for the first few years - until we get the beach house and the sailboat paid for.

Just got back, still kinda fried, will give a full report this weekend.
Had dinner with Mendencino (man can that guy eat!), charged it to Steves room, still wondering if Steve got the bill!

the flight is an easy one...less than an hour you climb to altitude and than descend to land....If you are going to do it try to fly out of Ontario as it is a very easy Airport to get in and out of and you may not have to spend as much at the Airport as some of the others...

I took enough of a beating at the Blackjack table that I stopped saying "Hit Me" and started screaming "THANK YOU SIR, MAY I HAVE ANOTHER!"
Made me feel better about taking a beating.....

Stuart,
you are cracking me up!!! ;D

Steve's doing fine thanks for asking Stu! ;)
As for Vegas...well, being that it was my first visit there, I was blown away! Everything is BIG there and I even joked that my #@*&# looked bigger there too! ;D
We stayed at Caesers Palace and I have never seen anything like it in my life. The size and detail of these facilities are mind boggling. We ate like kings and spent 99% of the time on the strip. Thanks to Mendocino, I got to see a part of Vegas that I wouldn't have in the older part of downtown (the old strip I guess). We had a blast and I'm glad he took me there to see it.
As for the show, it was also my first NSPI. I did expect far more people and I was surprised to see many of the major brands not in attendance. I understand the Aqua show played a factor but I still thought attendance would be higher. We did extremely well signing over 20 new dealers and I guess our crew were happy with that number. We have lots to follow on also so we'll see how it all works out. We had the second largest booth at the show and the set up was tedious. We had 5 stereo spas and 2 entertainment centers all linked to one so the same DVD or CD played throughout the booth.
I was disappointed in Beachcomber's booth and a few others. D1 seems to have really turned the corner and I was quite impressed with their spa designs. They looked interesting though I didn't sit in one. A very unique product and I think they'll have a very good year.
I was surprised to see the number of "soft sided" tubs offered and wonder about the appeal to the general public of these basic units.
Overall it was a huge show that I felt could have been better attended by prospective dealers and manufacturers. There was also very little in the way of western Canadian people that showed up but I kind of expected that.
I drank more in the last 8 days than I have in the last 8 years so now I'm home detoxifying my poor body! ;D My wife doesn’t drink so my next trip there will be viewed with a clearer head!
I'm going to surprise my wife with a 4 day trip back to Vegas to see Elton John in mid February for our anniversary. I'm also booking one of those helicopter tours into the Grand Canyon with a champagne lunch. 8 days is far too long to be on the strip and although I think everyone needs to see Vegas at least once in their lifetime, a 3-5 day package would be lots IMO!

HEY!!! Good on you my dear! Yeh, I'm not as bitter now. I was originally thinking Elton was going to be there while I was just there but I found out just prior to leaving that he wasn't. My dear, sweet Lori felt so bad for me....yeah...right! ;D
No worries about my wife seeing this forum. She thinks we're all nuts! ;D

I did feel bad for you! I mean, you could have come to Oklahoma in March...get out of the frozen tundra for awhile! We aren't as warm as Vegas, but with the weather around here, you never know, it might be warmer! ;D Then again, it is the beginning of tornado weather...
I don't blame you, go back to Vegas! Maybe I'll get a chance to go there sometime! Of course, if they treat me at the casinos the way they did at Harrah's in New Orleans...well...I got everyone in our party id'd. The lady kept saying "No kids allowed." I kept looking around thinking "Who has the kids?" She was talking about me! ;D :o :( :D That was just 2 years ago...
I'm glad you are going to get to see him...well worth the trip...just don't forget your wild glasses!!! LOL!!!
