Title: Strong chemical smell (week 2 of ownership..)
Post by: Gibson00 on November 29, 2021, 11:21:38 am
So we are just under two weeks into owning our arctic spa, and I've been very diligent about measuring the chemicals with my taylor kit.  I've never let the chlorine drop below about 3, and often have it up around 7 or 8.
PH and Alkaline seem to be in middle of range, about 7.4 and 125-130.
But I notice while in the water last couple days there is a strong chemical smell in the steam from the water, like plastic maybe?  Its giving me a headache and burning sensation.  I measured the chlorine again right after getting out today and it was 7.  Is that too high to bath in, and perhaps I'm literally just getting chlorine fumes??

Thanks!!

Chlorine of 7 is probably fine although a bit high, I keep mine in that 3-4 range..

I also keep my Total alkalinity right at 50, makes my PH easier to control.

Thanks, I thought my total alkalinity was middle of range at 120?

If I want to lower alkalinity, is that done by adding some PH down (Adjust Down product)
