Title: First ever hot-tub, Bullfrog Spa dealer only has X7 for wet-testing
Post by: crease1234 on April 22, 2020, 10:28:44 am
My wife and I are in the process of buying a new house, and top of our wants is a hot tub.  This will be the first ever hot tub for both of us.  I've contacted the only Bullfrog Spa dealer near me (45 mins away), and unfortunately they only have the X-7 for wet-testing as of this moment.  They do have the R7 and A7 on the floor for dry testing as well.

I have a few questions:

1)  Other than the changeability of the jetpacks, are there any obvious differences between the R7 vs. X7?  Massages are important for me.  Are the power of the jets inferior with the X7?

2)  A bit of a personal choice obviously, but in your opinion should we go for a Lounger?

3)  What are the questions should we be asking the dealer?

4)  What other stuff and add-ons should we get?  We live in Upstate NY where winters can be brutal, so will need a cover and steps.  Anything else?  I read about circulation pumps, but not sure what that is.

Honestly, this sounds like the worst Bullfrog dealer in the world!  How can they take the only unique thing about their product, and choose to display the only non-unique thing they sell?!?!

I'd ask that.

But in all seriousness:

1.  The X7 and the R7 are very similar.   Same mold, same pumps, slightly different controls (which are super simple, and take a bit of time to work with)  Quality wise, yes.  However, the jets are just drilled in place of the jet packs, so to me, the X series is certainly less refined than other "value" spas that I have wet tested.  However, they have other BF features like the frame.  Although, the X-series pillows are about 2% softer than the acrylic... X series pillows really dropped the ball, again, that is an opinion.

2.  I wouldn't go with a lounger, but that is just me.  I slouch in every seat.  I'd rather have the space.

3.  The above first statement.  Also, 45 minutes away... warranty wise, what do they charge to look/fix.  Any co-pays?  What is their average turn around time?  How long have they been a Bullfrog dealer?

4.  Circ pump with any Bullfrog is my recommendation.
