For those who have one, what do you set your chlorine and silver cartridges to?
We are fine on total chlorine with silver on 6 but can’t maintain free level with chlorine on 3. 525 gal of water filtering four hours every 12.
-
That’s a big hot tub, I would up the chlorine to 5.
-
Set at 5 and still filtering 4 hours out of 12.
Standby
What’s anyone else doing?

How much use?
-
Nightly for 60 minutes or so.
-
How often do you shock?
-
Instructions say one per month
Been running one per week?
-
Once a month is not enough, regardless of what the directions state. Weekly is what I tell my customers.
-
Agree once a month isn’t enough. Especially with how often you use the spa.
-
Yep, you are considered a heavy bather load. Max out the smart chlor cartridge number (can't remember if it's 5 or 6) for that size hot tub and supplement with a tsp of dichlor maybe after every other use.
-
Moved chlorine to 6

Yeah, that's considered a very large hot tub. You also may need to supplement with small doses of dichlor as well. The good news is that dichlor is cheap and we're talking a couple of teaspoons after heavy use.

So the tech has had me superchlorinate two nights running. Tonight is shock only, then going to see how it holds.
Test strip had been showing 4-5 total CL and very little free.

Sounds like you are also using the wrong test strips. Need to use the @ease ones for accurate readings

I just got the Tropic Seas Tahiti Elite which I believe is almost the same tub. (550 gals). I think I am set to 5 on smartchlor and 6 on mineral. Only been a few days but so far so good. I had water tested and added a whole bunch of chems before I put the cartridges in. Also used the start-up packet when I added the cartridges. I will keep you posted on my progress. I am expecting the smartchlor to last at least a month. I do use the @ease test strips.

test strips are many many choices even with @Ease.
Loved the ones the dealer gave me a sample of but can’t find them anywhere

Update... It has been 2 weeks, smartchlor cartiridge was set to 5 first week, but chlorine indication was low. Upped it to 6 and was fine for a bit... however my ph was running high. Put in more than twice recommended ph decreaser but did not come down enough. Then took out cartridge and realized it was about empty. Put in new smartchlor cartridge and next morning everything (ph, chlor, etc.) was great. Note that I did shock before putting in new smartchlor. In retrospect I think that my problem was I did not shock. I will be shocking at least once a week and maybe more if heavy use. Current use is about 5 times a week. Stay tuned. I really do not want to go thru 2 smartchlor cartridges a month ! I keep my temp at 101 degrees and my tub is 550 gallons. (Tropic Seas Tahiti Elite).

Yeah, we're finding that their recommended once per month shock is not sufficient for most people. We've upped our recommendation to once per week. I also recommend having some dichlor on hand for the occasional extra blast. For the most part though this program has been fantastic and super easy.
