Title: Semi-Neglected Tub: How to lessen maintenance work
Post by: Letran on June 08, 2017, 11:36:16 am
Ok I admit, I'm new at this and I haven't used my tub for awhile.

Not that I didn't want to but screwed/delayed deck construction made it difficult for anyone to use the tub

I Whirl-O-Cleaned the tub August -September last year,
I drained, cleaned the empty tub and removed the pillows.
I cleaned and changed the filters and re-filled the tub with full fresh water.

No one has stepped foot in it since

All this time the water temp was maintained at low levels 25 degrees (not to freeze in the winter)  and filtered twice a day
I also 2 or 3 times during this period cycled a descaler PreventII when its not too cold and deep in snow
I would also do Lithium every 2 months or so

Now that I found a way to access the tub again I would like to use it.

Is it safe to use? I could do a paper strip test. But i do not trust it and I haven't bought the chemical testing kit yet.

My thoughts are to put a dash of chlorine or bleach prior to use again.

I'm looking for a cheaper and less frequency type of maintenance going forward any way

Thanks in advance

As long as the PH/ALK is good and the sanitizer is up to par I don't see a reason you can't use it.

Chlorine once or twice a week, maybe more depending on use and #of people.  Shock once a week watch PH/ALK about as simple as it gets.
