Hi
First time spa buyer. I am torn between these two tubs and need some advice. Does anyone out there have anything to sat about either of these tubs?
-
Welcome to the forum! I own a Sundance and find them to be a reputable company. I've never had BeachComber for sale in our area. We use to have one of their reps in our forum.. I've not heard bad about them.

Thanks for your response. I have done my research and they both seem like good tubs. I am going to wet test the sundance soon. It seems like more bang for the buck. Do you think Uv is a good option to have or doesn't really matter?

They are both solid brands (we have/had a beach dealer in Duluth forever.) Cycled through a few Sundance dealers, not sure if they are still here. I've worked on a bunch and bought and sold a few. Just as good as Beach. Seems dealer comfort should be important here.
Wet test will tell, can you wet test both on the same evening?
Don't worry about ozone, if it's free take it. It will do more good if the tubs are equipped with a 24/7 circ pump. Sorry not real familiar with those 2 models?

Thanks- the beach comes with one larger pump dedicated for jets and a second small pump known as a hush pump which is a circ pump. The sun dance has 2 pumps 1 2.5 hp two sped pump and the other is a 1 speed 2.5 hp continuous pumps. In the specs it says that both pumps are continuous. I am not to up on the pumps in a hot tub. I was a little concerned with the beach as it seemed under powered but the rep assured me to not and the tub is engineered perfect for that pump set up.

The Sundance 680 is a series, which spa are you comparing the 380 too? Both brands are fine, I like the hush (circ) pump with the Beachcomber, but it wouldn't be a deal breaker. Both brands pretty much have the same filtration didn't look at the warranty between the two, I know the Sundance 680 series is 3 years. Don't buy into the "hybrid" system on the Beachcomber it's not true any spa has it. If I had to choose I would take the Beachcomber because of the circ pump option they must be throwing it in and adding it to the price? That being said Sundance builds a nice spa, lower end of their line but still nice.

I like the open seating in the 380 and if ozone is important to you the hush pump will circulate more ozone. Not sure which 680 series your looking at? But they can come with 24/7 circulation also I think.

So a little bit more background of the tubs and comaprisions which I am looking at.
Beach comber 380 is the hybrid system with 1 pump and 1 circ pump. This is a floor model.. Other additions that come with the tub are start up chemicals, hydraulic lifter for cover, gfi delivery. The price is 9,000 with taxes.
The sundance 680 Edison is a brand new tub, 3 months worth of chemicals, gfi, no delivery, comes with a uv system and as mentioned above has two bigger pumps. Also comes with a water fall which beach doesn't. Price is 7,000
Thanks for all the responses so far.

Couple things. For "me personally" no way I spend 9000 for a Beachcomber 1 pump + circ pump I wouldn't even blink at it. Too high for a 1 pump spa circ or no circ, specially a Beachcomber.
The Sundance is right on par @ 7000 but what are they asking for delivery? Usually that is built into the price not an add on extra. Like I mentioned every spa has a "hybrid" system it's called an economy mode. Same thing. It's up to you but the Sundance with 2 pumps, same size and a good company looks better at 7000.00

Ya the delivery is built into the beachcomber price. If I was to pick it up myself I would save 350.00. I really don't know why the huge price difference in tubs. For that extra price Of the beach comber I could buy a 780 series sun dance I am thinking. I guess I will see what the sun dance is like when I wet test it next week.

Sorry a delivery price is not worked into the sun dance price.

My tub is 3 years old, I assume the bulb burned out a long time ago and I've not noticed any difference.
