Hi,
Has anyone out there used colloidal silver to clean and maintain their spa? I have heard that it is possible to use this as a way of cleaning the spa without the use of chlorine and/or other chemicals.
Any experiences using colloidal silver would be gratefully appreciated.

As far as I know, colloidal silver kills bacteria, but not fast enough to prevent person to person transmission of disease. A low residual of chlorine or bromine is still necessary, like .5 to 1 ppm. You will also still need to balance the ph and add an oxidizer or shock regularly. There is no way to eliminate the necessity for those things.
Some of the "mineral sticks" on the market use colloidal silver, I believe.

Don't use collodial silver, use a mineral cartridge such as Nature 2 or the SpaFrog filter stick. These use silver chloride and will work a lot better.
