Title: Security system setup!
Post by: wmccall on October 16, 2014, 03:36:41 pm
I owned a hot tub for 10 years no problems.  But in the past year or so I've had a couple of cases of vandalism and unauthorized use.  Fortunately a good neighbor told me who the offender was.  I told there mom, but problems continued I put in a security camera and just now finally got it working.  Its set for motion detect.  If I catch the little brats anywhere near my tub, I won't be telling Mom any more.

When we go away for more than a day, we try to not let them know we are going.  The last time we went away for a weekend, they broke my cover locks to get in.

My uncle Fitz use to give the neighbor kids a hard time about walking on his grass and over his landscape.  That being said every year his Christmas lights got ripped off the house and dragged down the street.   Of course back then security cameras were not feasible.      Hopefully the little buggers won't retaliate on you.

I bet one of the Insteon door/window sensors would work on your cover and send you a text when it is opened. The sensor could have lights come on also.

Dropcam pro cameras also work very well. There video image, night vision and ease of setup make them a solid camera. Good luck in catching them punks.

How high can you turn the temp up while you're away?  110?  They won't get in if it's that hot...

NO, Bill, turn your tub down..lol! Since I once jumped into my own tub on a very cold night after forgetting that I had turned it down to 85 degrees, I can tell you, that should teach them a lesson.! The winter will you your friend :)
