Title: Ground Lug Broken on Silent Flow Circulation Pump
Post by: robinleigh on July 09, 2013, 09:12:02 pm
Hi,  The gound lug is broken on my Silent Flow circulating pump.  Do you have to use the copper wire or can I splice it to a smaller wire that will fit under the screw on the pump?  Thanks

The pump is prolly already grounded through the wire with the power cord from the pump.  Skip it you will be fine..  Look for a green wire.

No HotSpring spa has ever been made which did NOT have a ground wire built into the power cord. Even the older models which have a plug and outlet for the circ pump have a ground wire built into that cord.

The ground wire is an extra safety device, but not a must have item. Most circ pumps last about 5 to 7 years - you will be replacing it by then. At that time, you can reconnect with the ground if you like.
