Title: J-345 should circulation pump show some continuity?

Hi there,

First off I'm a newbie for repairing hot tubs so bare with me.  I have a FL 1 error on my jacuzzi j345.  I checked the flow switch and it's fine.  I suspect the circulation pump is no good.  I pulled it out of the hot tub and drained the tub.  If I switch my multi-meter to continuity test and put it across this pump I get nothing.  Does this mean a winding has burnt through in pump? I suspect there should be some resistance in order to work.  When I do this test against the other 2 larger pumps they do show continuity.

could someone let me know if my thinking is correct?  I don't want to pay 300 bucks to find out my circ pump is good.

i have been told that you won't get continuity on a circulation pump so that answers that I will have to try to power it up.

So odd! I have tested circ pumps for continuity, and yes, I have measured resistance across the leads.

Powering it up is by far the best way to test it.
