I'm getting my tub in a few weeks so want to ask so opinions. I am on well water that has a tad bit of hardness and dissolved iron. I see I can use "metal gon" type products to sequester the iron from oxidizing out.
Is it possible to just oxidize the iron with chlorine and let the filter system clean up the water?

you can but its going to add a bunch of time to your start-up....most of my well or "high metal" customers use a metal trap pre-filter and 1 or 2 bottles of metal gon. With that combo + rinsing the filter a couple times you can pretty much clear up any type of well water up within 24 hours

Metal-trap Pre-filter? Can you make some recomendations?

yup..not the cheapest on the market, but as with anything else you get what you pay for...also good for 10,000 gallons so you'll get plenty of use out of it.
