Title: is my friend making $ on me buying his 2006 Hot Springs 'Sovereign'??
Post by: leftylenny on March 26, 2010, 01:23:49 pm
new to the hot tub world......being rushed into buying with influence from my wife and friend.

My friend is being relocated.  New home will not accept the Hot Springs 'Sovereign' that he purchased in June 2006.  He has offered (and my eager wife has kind of jumped the gun and accepted) to sell us the tub + GFCI panel + approx. 60 ft. of 220 wiring + cross town delivery via 4 man moving company crew for $5000 all in.

I have tried to find the comparable tub online for sale and am having difficulty.  I would assume it is because Hot Springs owners are satisfied and there is not a big resale market.

We are quite familiar with the tub and have had many soaks in it over the years.  We are confident that it has been treated and maintained well.

Just am really out in the dark on the price.  Is this a fair deal?

any advice would be greatly appreciated......and I know what they say about doing business with friends.....however

Welcome to the forum.  The soverign is a good tub, The delivery and electrical hook up is nice.  What do you know about the working condition?  The deal is ok, without the pressure you might find as good a deal or better on your own.

whether its a good deal depends on what a new one would cost in your market.  in our area it wouldn't be outrageous to get a 2010 model for 7000 and change (plus tax).  it wouldn't come with wire (installed or otherwise) but the cover and filters would be new.
