Title: J385 Speaker Stuck in Up position

I have a 2006 J385 and love it and love listening to the stereo that has the pop up speakers.  Tonight one of the speakers stayed stuck in the up position.  I have removed the entire unit from the shell so I could close the top.  I don't want to break it by forcing it down.  Any ideas  on how to unstick the speakers?
