Title: O Rings HS Grandee 2005
Post by: BearBath on September 08, 2008, 07:05:00 pm
All of you techy types, I could use a little help! When my HS Grandee was installed, they put o-rings down near the base of the stand pipes in the filter compartment. The filters rested on them.
Now that years have gone by, the o-rings are getting mushy and falling apart and leaving black "skid marks". I asked my local dealer tech area and he said that there is no reason to have those o-rings. Just take them off!(And they were the ones that originally installed them!)
Seems a bit sketchy since there would then be no seal for the filters to rest against? What do I believe here?
Thanks!

If I am following you, there is no need to have those o rings.  I have no idea why they installed them in the 1st place. 8-)

Of course I am not a techie. ;)

Same thing happened with mine.  I noticed that they were changing consistency, then they started flaking apart and the whole hot tub was filled with black specks.  Yuck.  I'm glad I knew what to attribute it to.

I called and was also told that they did not need to be replaced.

Great! One less thing to have to maintain!
Thanks for the replies. The technician at the dealer could not even find a part number for replacements!

I have an 05' Envoy and have never had o-rings installed. Sounds like your dealer gave you a free upgrade. I'm sure you can rid of them. If Chas says its cool you are good to go.......
