Title: What to do in the cold?
Post by: Elmo on July 16, 2008, 11:08:20 pm
I'm a newbie and just got my first hot tub a few weeks ago.  I know it's still summer, but am anticipating using it during the cold Chicago winters.   I'd appreciate any ideas on how to keep the towels from freezing?

Thanks!

We put ours in the dryer for a while and then take them out in a small container (cooler). Or we just get the kids to run them out to us! It's why we had kids! :D

Don't worry about it!  How far is your tub from your door?  We just take robes and hang them on a hook.  If its raining we put them under an umbrella.  Even if its snowing you can shake them off and put them on.  A 20 minute soak at 104, I can easily tolerate a few seconds before putting the robe on.

The tub is about 16 ft from the house.  I wasn't sure if I'd make it inside w/o freezing.

I'll have to try the dryer and cooler method.  No kids at home just dogs....and they won't bring me a towel  ;D

Thanks for all the suggestions!

Wind is the key.  I've not tubbed on nights when it was 31 degrees with a strong wind, and had a great soak on a night when it was only 4 with no wind. On that night we soaked for 20 minutes at 104 and had no problem getting out, putting on the robes, adding chlorine and closed the cover with no problems.
