Title: Hot Springs Help
Post by: webboy on June 23, 2008, 03:19:04 pm
It's interesting that most the public think all hot tubs are the same. Since my friends know that I work for Bullfrog Spas they always bring their hot tub questions to me, most not even knowing what tub they own! So here is the latest. My "buddy" has a hotspring that he loves, but out of the heater he is getting a black soot like stuff. Never had that problem before. I asked what he has changed lately and he has switched his tub from bromine to blue juice.

Have any of you hotspring guru's heard of anything like this...I assume its the change in sanitizer, but have never seen anything like this before. Any help to make me look like the "end all be all" would be appreciated. :D

Thanks

As you figured, this is a most likely a chemical issue.  What is blue juice?  Is his spa still under warranty?  Bromine tabs are not an approved system.  Probably not blue juice either.

What is blue juice?  Â

I'm guessing this concoction has a bit to do with the problem as well. I've heard of most of these alternative "systems" that unfortunately try to steer people away from chlorine (or bromine) but I've never heard of this one.

From what I've been told is that it is a copper base liquid..

The water is perfectly clear except for the black floaties
