I simply can't get the manufacturer, Hydropool, to give a care about customer service. Finally after two weeks of leaving messages they sent an email saying I could order jets from them directly. All they need is my credit card number. However they didn't address the leak. The spa repair guy returns calls after 3 or 4 days, maybe. When he does its to say he'll call Hydropool and they aren't returning his calls!
What am I doing wrong here? This doesn't seem to be that difficult but its turned into a nightmare.
My level of frustration is mounting every time I look outside and see a leaking tub with warranty issues and a company that has no support. I'm ready to donate the entire thing, but then I'd have given Hydropool purchase money and they've done nothing for me. Idea's??

I thought the conclusion was that the warranty for the leaks for that spa was 3 years and that it had clearly happened after that 3 year anniversary.
Is that the case or am I missing something.

Have you found out for sure it is the jets? If you do not know where the leak is you need to figure that out first. You said in previous posts, that you got the water above the jets you thought were leaking and then when you turned on the pump it started again. Have you checked the pump seals, unions? Is this one of their tubs that has the floor filtration system? Could the leak be in that? I would try the red dye and look around, you may have to put it in, drain the tub and tip it up take of the bottom and see where all the red is and trace it back. To lose that much water must be a substantial leak somewhere. I would also take a look at the acrylic. Is there a crack that is opening up the more pressure you are putting in the tub when adding water? They are hard to see, but I would look, specially if it has the floor filtration system in it.
Look for another service tech in the area that is willing to come work on it.

Yeah, that'll show 'em! ;D
So what are the jet replacements for? Are they broken? Are these entire jet bodies they are sending (someone assuming a leak there??) or just the jets themselves?
There's no floor drain and the water level was much higher than that so that's not it. I've never seen (in all my years) an acrylic/fiberglass spa leak through so it's not that either.
It is either a jet body/manifold or PVC leak at a joint. These are not fully foamed spas so removing the panels (all 4 come off) should have shown a leak as significant as the one you have.
Since it is out of warranty, I would contact a local repair guy and get 'er done! Like I said in my PM... it won't be difficult to repair so I would take another angle and get someone (even a plumber) to look after it ASAP.

Are you talking about just hydropool or in any tub?
We have seen many a cracked tub that are acrylic/fiberglass. Mostly Keys Backyard tubs (wonder why they are $3000.00), but the local manufacture here in NH, Waters Edge, also had an issue with shell failures. Its what finished putting them out of buisness. We also have a local Hydro pool dealer who my husband did service for that had a tub that had the bottom filtration sytem, those little holes in the floor, have a failure and the tub leaked like a sun of a gun. of course it was January and 20 below! hydro did replace the tub for the customer eventually, but the tub was only about 8 months old. So acrylic/fiberglass leaks do happen. Never say never :)
not being fully foamed should make it fairly easy to see, unless it is on the floor somewhere. Has no one looked under the tub yet with the panels off, tub full and running?

Ok I'll take a deep breath and try to answer everyone's question. But before that thanks in advance for at least trying here.
Spa was delivered Jan. 05. Purchased Nov. 04. So..........who knows how they count it. Then we've been trying to work through this for several months prior to this. So at best it is 3 months out of the 3 yr. window. I realize this.
I don't know anything for sure about the leak. It leaks to the bottom level of jets then doesn't leak. Slowly filled it up above next level of jets, etc until it was approximately 1/2 full. It is now leaking again at this level.
I've taken all the panels off and its dry as it could be under neither this thing. I don't know about the floor filtration system. When I drain it for maintance refill I hook it up to a hose that is near the pump. What do I look for to check that out?
The shell looks good - I've looked it all over and for my eye don't see anything. I've run my hand over it and can "feel" nothing.
I'm needing the jets because they'd simply started to wear out / break. The plastic that holds them in place has worn out.
Hope I've answered the questions. As far as I can find the spa guy I'm trying to use is the only one who works on Hydropool spas. You would think in the Dallas / Fort Worth, TX area someone else would work on them but no one will.

That's what I thought. I was just confused in your first post because you seemed to be saying they were dragging their feet on a warranty issue. It's hard to believe you can't find an independent tech is a big city like yours. I'd also like to think the Hydropool can help by searching someone out for you to deal with.

I'm telling you, my idea will work for you. It did for Anoroc:

The BIG difference in reading Anaroc's post that you listed was that his problems were occuring to a 6 month old spa still well under warranty.

But, he didn't get satisfaction until he set himself on fire. That is the moral of the story and usually the best course of action when dealing with spa manufacturers. It is the least painful and most expedient method.

Squeaky wheel! I agree but being that Hydropool can state, "It ain't our problem", he has to deal with the local repair shmuck and it seems he could care less as well.
ANY repair shop or local hot tub company can service any spa out of warranty.
Don't wait for one guy and as I mentioned, a plumber would be helpful even.
Those jets aren't going to solve your issue and for the life of me, I can't figure out why you would be loosing that much water and it not go anywhere? Just baffles me... I know...you too! ;) It's gotta be going somewhere.
As for acrylic/fibergalss leaking...I guess a boat can form a leak too (similar construction) but in 15 years, I never saw or heard of ANY spa with this design crack and leak through the acrylic. I have seen acrylic crack but never leak past the fiberglass/resin shell. I guess there's always garbage tubs out there but I've never seen it. I stand corrected! ;)

Talked with hubby last night about this....another suggestion....he had a tub that had a bad air line to one of the jets. It created a siphon and drained the tub. It was baffleing for awhile because they would fill the tub and not have any sign of a leak, once you turned on the pump it started the siphon in the line and even when the tub was turned off the siphon continued untill it drained the tub. If this ait line is near the footwell, it may drain right under it, and be going into the sand where you cant see it.
Just another thought...

did you buy the Hydropool tub from one of these big box recreational stores?
-
No we purchased it from a dealer - who is no longer in business. The repair guy did call and say he wasn't getting anywhere with Hydropool either. I asked if he could "turn it up abit" and he said he would. Not sure what he plans. He did say everyone agrees the jets aren' t the cause of the leak. Just not sure what is. It stops leaking within a quarter of an inch of the bottom of the light.

There might be your answer...

Eagle I am in Dallas too and this guy may be able to help
or at least direct you in the right direction.
This guy knows alot about spas and he is very helpful.
He specializes in in-ground spas but he knows the business well
and can repair tubs. Since I decided to go with an above ground
spa and have a warranty I have not spoke to him in a couple
of years, but he was very nice, very helpful, and really knows
alot about spas.
