Title: How many hours a day do you filter
Post by: benalexe on June 01, 2008, 09:33:36 pm
My spa was set to do two 5 hour sets- 10- Hrs total. I thought that seemed high so I reduced it to two- 3 hours sessions.

A lot dedpends on bather load.  Plus if you new to a hot tub, I'd leave it up for awhile till you get your chemical regime down.  I filter for 2-2hr periods a day, 4 hours total. During colder weather there is additional filtration when the heater is running.

I agree.

I'd keep it there for awhile. If you start to notice that even when all your chemistry is in line the water is still cloudy, just increase the filtration cycles and vice versa.

Yes, 10 hrs total is far too much IMO. It'll obviously do the job but you're wasting energy. I'd say 6 hrs is fine for now due to the fact that its new and you're using it daily probably. At some point you can probably drop it to two sessions of 2 hrs each or 4 hrs total but I wouldn't do it now when you're using it a lot and getting used to the water management.

I thought that Nature 2 or mineral sticks such as what he got had to be 4 hours 2 times a day minimum?

I will say, the past couple of years having a tub with a 24 hour circ pump has been amazing. So much better water quality.

I firmly agree with Spatech tuo's sanitizing regime (other post), and Hillbilly's filtration recommendation.

Dichlor (1 tsp) upon leaving tub and weekly shock (1Tbs dichlor), and...24 hr filtration.

  BTW.....2 -3 users, 2-3 times daily @ 1-2 hr duration. (O3 and silver)

Makes for crystal clear, clean , odor free water on our  08 Sundance Cameo.

ZERO problems so far. (6 weels).

  Good luck....Sean
