Good morning,
Well, after I posted yesterday that my water has been clear from the start, I arrived home after work to dirty water. >:(
I added some sani-chlor and ran it for an hour or so. Went to my sons graduation and came home to find it the same.
I added some shock and went to bed. Basically the same this morning.
The water is approximately 6 weeks old. And everything on the test strip is good.
What the heck happened?
Is this something that will take a day or so to clear up?

When you say "dirty" water, do you mean it's cloudy. If so, some things you can do to rid the cloudiness are
-Add a larger than normal dose of dichlor. I'd shoot for atleast 10ppm FC.
-Clean filters
-Increase the amount of circulation
If you do all that Today and you still have cloudy water tommarow, add 1-2 ounces of clarifier.
-
If that does not work, just drain and refill. Sometimes starting over is the easiest thing to do. Good Luck!

I'd say it has a brownish tint more than it's dirty.
Sorry to sound ignorant but, dichlor is the sani-chlor, correct?
I cleaned my filter last Saturday. I'll do it again.
I notice there is more foaming than in the beginning.
Thanks for the responses Chad and Mr. B.

I'm not too familar with the term sani-chlor, so I did a quick google search and only found one hit that related to hot tubs. It was product called Nature's Way Sani Chlor. I wasn't able to find the amount of available chlorine in it or the ingredients. Does your bottle have this info printed on it?

I'm thinking this may not be dichlor, is this it?

That's the stuff.
I'm pretty sure it's a dichlor. The bottle reads "97% sodium dichloro-s-triazinetrione. Available chlorine-62%.
I put a capful in before my son's soccer game and turned everything on full. I just checked and it seems to be getting a little clearer.
Thanks again, Chad.

Sorry Mr. Bubbles. You must have sent while I was typing. Thanks to you as well.
It is the Nature's Way product Chad mentioned.
-
No problem.
62% is really good. My Leisure Time - Spa 56 is only 55%.
-
No problem, hope you get it figured out.

Let me ask this.
I just cleaned the filter again. When I put it back, I actually let the trapped air purge out as shown in the manual (which I just received). I could be wrong but, I notice the flow seems more noticable when the pump is on. Is it possible there was air trapped in the filter and for the last 4-5 days it wasn't filtering? When I cleaned the filter last weekend, I simply put it back in.
-
That is a distinct possibility.

First,
Thanks again to Chad, Mr. B and Vanguard for taking the time to respond.
Indeed the problem was that the filter had air trapped in it. Thus, it wasn't filtering. The water is clear once again. ;D
I'm learning.
Now to get the pool ready.
