Title: To Fix or Replace

I have a 2001 Hot Springs Landmark which it appears has started to leak a few pints a day.  I have had the tub seven years and two months and there is no warranty left.  The water is noticeable from the corner skirt and the equipment bay is dry with no loose hoses.   I suspect a pipe somewhere in the corner section buried in the full foam has started to leak.  It seems to repair the tub (by the dealer) would involve a fair amount of work and cost.

Before I have the dealer out to take a look, and pay the service charge, I was wondering how costly this might turn out to be.  I then have the question is it better to repair the tub or replace.  

Prior to this tub we had a Classic for ten years with minimal problems (replaced with a bigger tub as the family grew) and the Landmark has been reliable.  I take very care of it and it is in good shape.  The dealer in the Seattle area is great and I would buy a Hotsprings again.   I was hoping to get ten years from this tub and then buy a Grandee as a replacement but this may change the timing on that.  

Several factors I need to consider:  
The estimated cost of the fix and it’s time for a new cover, filters and pillows
Discounts I would receive for a repeat customer and maybe trade in allowed

Any estimates, ideas or suggestions would be much appreciated.

As potential temporary fix, try Fix a Leak.  Might get you the next few years.  http://www.fixaleak.com/spas.html

Does the leak seem to be near the moto jet?

As a matter of fact, it is in the corner by the moto jet.  Would using Fix a Leak create any issues with the pumps (mains or circ)?

Our customers experiences are that the Fix a Leak does not gum up the pumps.

Some moto jets had a nipple where the leak is.  It is a relatively inexpensive repair that we do in the field.  It does involve removing skirt, small foam dig, repair, refill, test, refoam, reskirt.

I am sure your dealer has seen it and can deal with it systematically.

If you have good shell and the only thing wrong is the leak, i would fix it and repait it.

If it were me, I would see what trade-in is. If you can put a good deal together then buy the new Grandee. Life is too short. Enjoy...
