Title: 1st time draining!!
Post by: goodearth on April 27, 2008, 09:15:32 am
First time I'm draining my bullfrog 682 aprox 450 gals of water with bromine. My question is will this water burn my lawn or does anybody think I should pump it out to the street?   THANKS

Good Question. I was thinking it might kill my bushes and trees in my desertscape backyard.

I have a 2007 Sundance Optima...480 gallons, and I also use bromine.  I have drained it 3 times over the past 8 months onto the same spot in my yard each time.  It seems to have no impact on my lawn (doesn't seem to help - doesn't seem to hurt), but then again, I don't have a nicely manicured lawn...some grass, some weeds, some bare spots :'(.

Others here have a lot more experience and knowledge than I do.  Just thought I would post my experience...for what little that is worth.

The trick is to get the bromine level down to 0.  Take the bromine floater out of the water a few days before you wish to drain the spa.  Then use the spa once or twice untill the bromine is gone.  As long as your ph or alk is not WAY out of wack you should be just fine.
