Title: Arctic Spa Dealer Seminar
Post by: Water Boy on February 06, 2008, 12:04:03 pm
Bonjour from Quebec Canada. Taking a little breather from the seminar, but wanted to give everyone a little preview. Very nice city, and actually not too cold here either. Quebec is celebrating their 400th anniversary, so its a pretty big deal here.

Lots of new things to come for 2008. Many updates to every model, one new model due out in June, lots of new colors, and a few more surprises to come. I will post some pics and more info when I get back.

Why would the moderators here allow this blatant self-promotion by a tub manufacturer? Who cares about what goes on at some 'dealer meeting' anyway? It's not as if we have any precedent for this.

Hushed voices making deals in a smoke-filled back room,  with a heavy Canadian accent. Just can't even fathom why we would be interested. And new models? If I wanted to see those I'd go to my local dealer.

Sheesh.  ;D ;D ;D ;D

 8-)

PS - I bet they will add a black, or real dark gray shell color option, fake stone siding, and a TV option.

I heard they were finally coming out with an insulated model in '08!!  ;)

Enjoy the rest of the seminar WB.

Quebec? I thought all the Arctic facilities were way out west. Or is this a regional meeting?

Yes their facilities are in Alberta, which is out west. Quebec is just where they decided to have the dealer seminar this year.

We toured the Gecko plant today which was quite interesting. We also just got back from the Ice Hotel in Quebec. It was one of the neatest things I have ever seen. I took some pics and should have some on here next week.

I just checked out Arctic Spas and walked away wondering why they have chosen to insulate the way the have. I thought they were well built otherwise.

When the dealer told me they were built in Canada I was even more curious about the insulation.  Are the houses in Canada built with air cavities in the walls?

Stealing hotel towels is a felony, even at Motel 6.  Don't do it.

LOL.  Yep, we insulate the walls and leave the space inside open.  Makes it easier to move around compared to those houses filled with foam.   ;D

I haven't lived in an igloo for some years now, but they are surprisingly warm. Used to make them with my Scout troop at winter camps.  Contrary to what you may have thought, they are made not from ice but from packed snow, which is a good insulator, and a candle or two will keep it warm inside.  The drips from the ceiling can be annoying, though, if you get it too warm.

I was talking to some gal down south about our phone bill, somewhere along the way I told her I had lived in Alaska for 12 years.  She asked me if people really do live in Igloos there.  :o   No wonder our bill is screwed up.  ::)

We actually stayed at the Loews Le Concorde Hotel in Quebec. Very nice, probably 5 star I would say. They had this great restaurant at the top of it on the 26th floor that overlooked the whole city, and it was a revolving restaurant as well. Pretty cool.

Every room had 40 inch LG LCD TVs. One of the nicer hotels that I have stayed in.

The seminar was a very good one. The store that I work for won Dealer of the Year, Outstanding Service. We were pleasantly surprised and honored to win the award. We strive every day to have the best service in our town. Arctic Spas treated us very good and were excellent hosts, and we feel very lucky to work for such a great company. Look for a few new changes to appear very soon. I will post some pics first of next week of the Ice Hotel, the Quebec Carnival, and us gladly showing off our award! I even met the lead singer of Def Leopard, and got a pic with him as well!! ;)

Congrats to Water Boy for getting "Arctic Spas Service Award"

I just got back from our seminar as well.  What a great time.  It's great to see/talk to dealers from all over the world.

Arctic has done minor changes on each model.  A new chemical system.  New colors.  New no-maintenance cabinets.  A new stereo system.  New neck/shoulder jets.  New monsoon jet.

I'm so very proud of my staff.  It was there hard work that helped my store in  Breckenridge, CO to win "Arctic Spas Dealer of the Year".

If ya like Vodka......you should try this Texas Vodka called Tito's.

It's distilled 6 times and made at the only distillery in Texas.

Not expensive and good quality.

Waterboy.....I'll be at Bon Jovi Dallas April 14th.

The last two times I saw Bon Jovi in Dallas he put on an excellent show.

At his last how I did get a high five from him when he came up into my section to sing one song.

The guy just knows how to put on one hell of a show.

Oh and it doesn't hurt that his audiences tend to have "very healthy" females!

Here is a pic of me and the lead singer of Def Leopard. Well, not really, but I thought he looked like a cross between him, Rod Stewart, and Kevin Dubrow. After getting to know him, turns out he is the lead singer for a White Snake tribute cover band. This one didnt turn out so good, but the rest that I will post are pretty good.

We were treated like kings that night, even walked into the gala through the red carpet.

The event was also sponsored by Gecko Electronics. They had lots of ice sculptures throughout the night.

We were also honored to be in the presence of the Arctic Spa mascot, the Polar Bear.

On Wednesday night we went to the ice hotel in Quebec City. This is one of only 2 in the world that does such a thing. They build it every year and open it January 1, and close it April 1 as it starts to melt. People actually do stay there. It is $250 per person per night to stay at the Ice Hotel. There is an Ice Bar, Ice Chapel that hosts over 30 weddings in the 3 months it is open. There were also ice slides for kids. It was pretty cool to see in person. Here are some pics to see for your self. It was pretty cold after a couple of hours there.

We all drank from ice cups that they make themselves.

Here are some pics from the ice chapel. Notice that they sit on deer skin hides on the ice benches, so as they said your bums don’t get cold:

Tito's is larrupin'!  I bought some a few months ago and just drank that stuff straight out of the bottle in about a week.  If I ever retire from the hot tubbin' world, I think I might try to get a job with them.

That ice hotel looks pretty slick!  How the heck do you sleep at night without freezing?  Also, when you take a squat, doesn't your behind stick to the ice terlet seat?  If you accidentally pee on the floor, does it melt all the way through the floor and down to the room below you like Xenomorph blood on Aliens?  Doesn't the ice microwave and coffee maker melt when you use them?  How do you take a hot shower in an ice tub?  Can the people in the rooms below you look up your drawers?
