I think it would be helpful to start a thread to help people looking for quality used hottubs. Granted craigslist is few and far between and you have to be patient but I found this great deal today and if I didn't already have a tub I would jump on it! So if you find a good deal on a used tub post to this thread.
Hotsprings Envoy w/Spaudio for sale $8000 Indianapolis
http://indianapolis.craigslist.org/for/526057854.html
Dang found another great deal!
Hotsprings 2006 Vanguard $5500
http://indianapolis.craigslist.org/for/522909553.html
Have to mention that this vanguard is the exact same color shell and interior as the one I own!! Sure wish this would have been available last year when I was looking to buy. Oh well someone is going to get an awesome deal on a top of the line hottub!
-
This is a GREAT idea and this is probably one of the few forums where we could "get away it it" as these guys are as interested in HELPING buyers as they are in hocking their own wears. Cudo's to WTBHT.
The Envoy doesn't look like any kind of a bargain as mot resales are typically only about 50% of the current MARKET price but listing these would give us a good idea of the true "resale market value" of these things so that whenever one of us considers selling our existing tub and moving up to a bigger or more expensive tub, we won't have to look all over creation for the Hot Tub "Blue Book" value. We also won't have to rely solely on the price "guessimate" of the dealer we are buying our next one from. Great IDEA!
-
I agree. The Envoy seems at least a thousand too high to me. The Vanguard looks about right. Great idea on this thread, though.

I get a kick out of some of the adds. The Envoy is at least 4 years old.....

I agree. You take on a lot of risk when purchasing a used spa not to mention moving it and what can happen when it is moved. Spas don't hold their value for good reason. Four year old Envoy is worth maybe 50% of new, IMO...and thats if it is working perfectly.

I like this one. "We spent $1,000 for the conduit box.......".
The electrical panel is included with a HS spa.
Yep, there are some good deals but you have to be careful. There seems to be a Grey Market for spas in my area. The good ones go really quick....

"The good ones go really quick...."
Are you talking about women or hot tubs?

Here's another way of going about the search using Google:
http://www.google.com/search?num=100&hl=en&newwindow=1&safe=off&q=site%3Acraigslist.org+"hot+tub"+sale&btnG=Search
Click on the above link and you'll get something like 17,000 hits.
To narrow it down to your area, add the name of your city in the Google search box.
My favorite search is http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=site%3Acraigslist.org+"hot+tub"&btnG=Google+Search.
You'll find, right at the top of the list, "To my naked hot tub party neighbors", an open letter from a guy in Portland. It might come in handy! ;D

This one looks like a great opportunity for someone, although it is an unfortunate indicator of our economic times.

Zep, you're right it is scary. In SE Michigan we have 7.8% unemployment, 30,000 manufacturing jobs have been lost in the auto industry and 70,000 homes are currently in foreclosure as the ripple effect spreads throughout the country.
While Hot Tubs are considered a luxury item, they might be on the "wish list", BUT they are NOT on the "Priority list" today. Priorities are now food, shelter, clothing and do I still have a job and more than 9 Hot Tub sellers have closed their doors.
-
re: "9 Hot Tub sellers have closed their doors"
OMG.....that is really sad.
Maybe that will help the ones that try to survive the recession.
This sub-prime mortgage crisis is extremely scary.
Yesterday Merrill Lynch the world's biggest broker announced
a record writedown of $19 billion!
The loss was almost three times bigger than analysts estimated.

Stupid banks giving loans to people who had no business getting a loan. Now these people and banks want the government to bail them out.
I know it hurts but our country needs this correction to get its head screwed on straight. It is going to be a rough couple of years but I'm confident that things will turn around and hopefully people will learn their lesson and start living within their means.

While I do not disagree with your comment, the banks knew what they were doing and so did the people, they just didn't anticipate the future collapse of the economy as the adjustable rates kicked in. But, I don't see where the banks or the people are asking the government to bail them out. They either pay for it, lose it, go down the tubes, or they are bought up, i.e. B of A buys up Countrywide etc.
But, what about all of this 90-180-365 days, same as cash, or the no payments, no interest for 2 years, or no payments or interest until 2012. The sale is made, but the piper is not paid.
SAC programs are used as a tools to take the objection of money out of the picture regardless of what you buy or sell. SAC is intended to get them to buy today and pay later. People are encouraged to buy their desires without immediate cash outlay, and when time rolls around, maybe they don't have a job.
It is not the banks, nor is it the people, but it is employment security that's in trouble with jobs going off shore looking for cheaper labor cost.

I think the latest Dr. Pepper theme song is the main reason our country's economy is in trouble.
I want it all, I want it all, and I want it NOW!!!!
