Most manufacturers start releasing information around this time. Most will start production between now and some time in January. It depends on a lot of things from each manufacturer. There is no drop dead date when the new year spas are released, but you'll start seeing stuff trickling out.
-
There is not hard fast rule about 08 product. Some makers may make bigger changes than others, some may introduce a new model while also dropping perhaps another. Some will make small minor changes. I can tell you as a dealer that each year there are changes that we like and some we don't. After just getting back from the Aqua show which was smaller than normal, there did not appear to be a lot of "Big" changes D-1 did do some cool stuff with cabinets, they make a very fine product but you will pay top dollar for it. Some interesting spas out of china were there. they appeared to be very nice but not enough savings to make them make sense.

Wow, Chinese spas? The Chinese sure are good at copying US prodcuts. Are they building their spas without violating patent laws?

I checked with my Caldera salesperson, he says the one I have been looking at is a 2008. The waterfall changed from the filter to its own spot on the back of the tub. I do notice that on their older (nicer) brochure, it is a little different (unless that is the newer one and the guy is lying through his teeth?).
Anyone out there with a Niagra for a while care to chime in on where your waterfall comes from?

Hi searchinginfl. Have owned my Caldera Niagra for a little more than a year. The waterfall comes out of the filter cover.

That was a change they made during 2007. They did it on a model-by-model basis. I saw something in a trade magazine about a new waterfall that is not a sheer flow but rather a rain like flow. I haven't seen one yet. No Caldera dealer in my town of 4 million. I'd be surprised if Caldera has their 2008 models out yet, unless they are not doing any other major changes. Caldera doesn't usually start shipping new year models until early December. Then, they only do that as they run out of the previous year's models, so some may not ship until the new year.

I don't know... My sister got a deal on a 2007 floor model Caldera Geneva (7,200 with steps and cover lifter ) because the salemen said that they needed to make room for their 2008. So it is very possible that they are out?? Her waterfall is right by her filter if looking at the filter in the tub it is right to the left of the opening. Great tub!
-
It is most likely that the dealer was just selling out floor models in anticipation of getting '08 models when they come out.
Heck of a deal on a Geneva I must say! :)
-
I know... I had Major tub envy.. until I got my Vista ( now I just have envy on what she paid... there is no way I was going to touch a 2007 Vista for 7,200...)
-
How do you know what year your spa is? If they say they are selling me a 2008, how do I make sure? The spa is already made, and on its way here.
-
Does your contract say it is a 2008 spa?
The serial number will tell. I don't have the code at my fingertips. There might be a Caldera dealer here who can tell you.
-
I just put down $500 to hold that spa that was in the warehouse a few hours away, I haven't signed a contract yet. Thanks for the info!
-
Congrats on the purchase of your tub... what did you end up getting??? also... I noticed a sticker on the inside of my electrical panel that showed an inspection dat of late 8/07... between that and my serial number I knew it was a 07...I don't think HS's 08's are out yet.. not till January..I think??

I am only holding the Caldera Niagra. My deposit is refundable, but I keep going back to that one. I'm going to take my husband to test a couple of Vita spas before my final decision on Monday.

Hot Spring 2008s are not released yet. I hear some things are in the works for 2008. A rumor I have heard is a rock siding. Don't know if it is true or not, just a rumor.

Hi,
First post here. My wife and I have been looking for about 6 months now. After MUCH research we will probably buy a Sundance Cameo.
Does anyone have any info on when Sundance will come out with 08 models. Any info on changes, new models, ect?
Thanks.............. Brothersean

Our Sundance dealer said "soon" and the prices go up about $500. Nothing really different. But, he was trying to sell me a 2007.
-
Thanks Search.........My dealer also is trying to sell the 07's.

Sean,
The Cameo is an 800 series spa. The 700 series was upgraded in 07 and will not change much at all. A casual friend, who sells Sundance, said that the 800 series is due for a major upgrade in 08, according to his factory rep. If you're looking at the 800 series, I'd wait.

I did some checking on 2008 Caldera. They have not yet released details for their 2008 lineup.
It is right about now that Watkins starts distributing info on the next year. They will usually start limited production of 2008 in December only if they are depleted of 2007 models. The only models close to depletion at this time are their Oasis series spas.
The Oasis are their entry level spas.
-
I know Caldera did some major changes mid-year on the 2007s. Maybe they are more of a half year company??? (Changes come mid-year)
-
The Watkins' philosophy used to be to introduce everything at the turn of the year. They went to more of a philosophy of releasing improvements as soon as they are ready. Basically, if it'll help then, it'll help now.
They did move the waterfalls off the filter lids into the bar top and changed the waterfall from a "sheer descent" to a rainfall type waterfall. Both very positive moves. The waterfall on the lid was always quirky.
-
Duh, I'm sitting in Orlando the night before the show, so I'll try to mosey around some of the spa companies to see what's new for 2008. Not sure if I'll have time, but if things are as slow as many are predicting, I should have time. I'll post what I see. I already ran into one of the Sundance marketing guys and he seemed pretty excited about things.
-
Doob..........thanks for the hot tip reguarding the Sundance 800 series! Based on that and what Vanguard mentioned we will wait a bit.
Thanks again........Sean

Sounds like Watkins may not release much until their Dealer Conference in January. However, they may be forced to go into production of some units this year.
I spoke with one of the marketing guys at Sundance today. Asked him if there were any big changes for 2008. His answer verbatim, "Not Really."
I didn't get to go into any booths today. Will try tomorrow. Although, I must say Jacuzzi, Marquis, Sundance and Bullfrog all have some great looking spas on display.
Cal Spas really downsized this year. I didn't make it last year, but they usually have the largest, most extravagant booth at the show. They had their trailer they sell with spas on it, one on a spinner dealy bopper and some other stuff. Very surprised by their booth.
Dynasty has a big presence here as well as Infinity.
Biggest surprise so far----Hydro Spa is displaying.
Asked around for comments on anything that has caught some eyes and didn't get much in return.
