Anyone have an opinion on this "new" spa thingie?
Kind of a gazebo-umbrella thing, with a built in cover lifter. Not cheap though;

Now that's sweet! A little pricey at $600 though. Kind of reminds me of a boat canopy. I'm not sure how much protection it will actually offer from the elements but the concept is cool!
So is the cover lifter a seperate item or is that part of the "thingy"? If it includes the lifter, the price seems more reasonable.
* Just read where it says that it is part of it...not bad... A 5 yr warranty too. If I still managed my store, I'd bring a few in for sure.

$600 is high, but I think I can offer them at $500....which in my cheap mind is still high ;D
"Bimini".........yeah, same name as the boat canopy, same design idea.

The only thing missing is the rods with a fish on!!! Also, if we increase the HP on the motors to say, 140-150 we can make the run from the keys that much faster. Don't forget the GPS to the fishing holes either. And while we are at it, lets hire a first mate for all the cleaning needs.
Like all gimmics it will sell. I just can not see the need for something like this. I probably would not hold up to an extreme wind gust, but the owners manual will cover that the bimini should not be used in excess winds, and we all know that owners read their manuals front to back. All I see is problems with this! Just my 2 pennies.

looks like a nice product
but why would one want a cover over a spa?
the stars, the clouds, the moon
no thanks to blocking all that out
oh wait a minute there are places like Portland.
i doubt those would sell very well in Dallas

I believe the first mate is pictured in today's Picture of the Day ;D
By the way, I'll take 2!
If it's anything like a boat bimini, well I've been in boats going 60 mph with their bimini up. My only concern on a spa is how it's actually attached to the spa (there's absolutely nothing in the manual about wind concerns).
There are a good number of people that don't want to be totally outdoors under the stars. There's a reasonable gazebo business to back this up. I also think it's more convenient than the umbrellas, though less attractive when it's "put away" (folded up umbrellas look pretty crappy too).

Yeah but isn't that to block the hot sun or rain if you are sitting outside in clothing?
In a hot tub you are already wet and you are in a bathing suit.
Quite different than being in jeans and polo shirt under a gazebo at a party.
I dunno maybe I just don't get it since I am in Texas.
I vote NO....would not consider this product!

Gazebos, pergolas, sun rooms, under decks... there's lot of em

oh i can understand if you need it for privacy

I'd want an under the tub mount, As the cover gets heavier I don't want the weight on the skirt.

First thing I thougt of was my boat, too. I liked the suggestion of adding rod holders. But why stop there? Get one of those massive wake board racks, put a couple uber loud speakers up there, a light bar, a lowrance radar unit, and a 20' long vhf antenna. On the rear, why not put a nice swim platform, and on the front a pulpit and windlass. Then you could be in your boat without even leaving your yard. No more pesky slip rental fees, or long lines at the public access.

My tub is under an overhang. My neighbor's sits outside in the open. His wife is always complaining that she is the one that has to hold the umbrella when they are in the spa in the rain/snow. This looks interesting enough to pass on to the neighbor...but it is a little pricey, IMHO....but then, isn't everything "a little pricey" these days?! ::)

I like it. I'd probably buy one if I was able to see one in person and/or could get a money back gurantee. How about it Doc? Would you send me one for a trial period?
