After much research and wet-testing, we have our eye on a Jacuzzi 335. Dealer's regular price is $7900. Dealer will go to $7500 if we skip the cover lifter/steps/chems etc. Resaonable deal?
We are in Alaska so we expect it to be more expensive (shipping is a bear), but wanted to know how that stacks up with the price range in the lower 48.
345 price info would be helpful too since it is close enough to the 335 ($100 more at local dealer.)

Based on the pricing here(STL) and from what I've seen on this forum recently, I think $6500 - $7500 is what they're going for. FWIW, I have an '06 j345 and have really enjoyed everything about it for the 10+ months I've had it. Good luck in your continued quest of spatopia.
Btw, imo it's not worth the $400 savings to not get a cover, steps, and chems.

What are you gonna do with a tub without a cover??

The steps will be simple nylon steps unless specified otherwise so that's a minor loss and if the chems are a starter kit that's no big deal either. You can make yourself some better steps for say, $40 and get your own chems (let's say the starter chems in the kit can be replaced for $35) you won't miss much. So, you'd need to get yourself a cover as good or better that the other one for about $325 for it to be a wash.

That's not a "deal"... he's removing stuff and you're not paying for it. A quality cover is a must and the concept of selling a spa without a cover is a mystery to me.
With a spa you need a cover, a way to get in and out of the spa and watercare products to maintain water quality. These are not negotiable items. I suppose he could remove the pumps for a few hundred less too? :-?

So I should've typed less quickly -- I would be skipping the cover LIFTER, not the cover itself. Given the cover lifter they offer is pretty basic, I think I could fashion one myself or do without.

Or you could purchase one on-line from Dr. spas's site. If the lifter offered was similar to a Covermate I ($175) and if we put a value of the steps/chems at $100 then I'd say you spent $400 less and he took out about $275 in product.

I would say for Alaska thats a very good price,I take it your in the Anchorage area??
I am a bit south of you in Bellingham,Wash But I lived in Dutch Hbr for 12 years before moving here. I like it here, but mis Alaska in general!!
See if you can haggle with the guy or threaten to buy something else this can often lead to extras.

Thanks Jim. Yes, we are in Anchorage and just moved up here from Seattle. The hot tub is our little indulgence to help with the winter darkness. I have a number of friends up in Bellingham -- beautiful spot. Dutch Harbor is probably a little more remote than I could handle!
Re pricing: the Jacuzzi std prices are significantly below HS and Sundance and Arctic prices. (Ex: Tiger River Caspian $9800; Sundance Majesta or Altamar $9900) I bet the Jacuzzi dealer knows it. I will try nonetheless.

If given the choice price wise I would take the J-345 over the 335 a few more jets,extra diverter hndl,more space to stretch out.
The 3 big MX power pro jets feel fantastic. Its worth a try to haggle, but either way for up there its a good price.

We purchased an '07 J-345 in April, delivered in June..MSRP, $7900, on sale for $6900, negotiated to $6500 with cover, chems, delivery. We opted out of the cheap steps and I built a platform instead, much better IMHO...I totally forgot about a lifter in the negotiation and had to pay another $150 for a Covermate ...but he had a price of $199 on one and $299 on another...he offered either to us at $150...so we took the CMIII with the struts on it.
I am sure freight factors considerably up there, dont know if it is where the extra grand comes from, but basically, its worth what you are willing to pay for it. If he is the only game in town and you want one...thats the way to go.
And I agree with Jacuzzi Jim (obviously, since we got one) the 345 is the better tub, but we didnt care much for the lounger to begin with.
