Title: Can't get filter out of Optima
Post by: Styx555 on June 21, 2007, 05:32:35 pm
It's time for our first filter change and I can't seem to get the filter out. Manual says to turn bolt and loosen, however I can't seem to turn it. Could it be that it was put in too tight, and if so, how do I get it out?

The jam nut that holds the filter in place has probably cross-threaded.
To remedy this situation, first turn off the power to the spa.
Then screw the filter pipe and jam nut in towards the side wall of the
filter compartment.  You should then be able to remove the filter.
Next you should unscrew the filter pipe and jam nut from the side
wall.  The next step is to properly set the jam nut on the correct threads.
This step may take a vise or wrench.
Hope this helps and good lick.

When my filter is in too tight, I rotate the filter itself which loosens the nut.

thanks! Used a combination of both methods and finally got it out. Tough to do with so little room to work with, but finally succeeded. Tub got a good cleaning and is good as new.

Thanks again!
