Title: Nasty Circ Pump Filter
Post by: bohms on June 16, 2007, 04:00:45 pm
Today we decided to dump our water since it wasn't looking so clear anymore.  My husband pulled out the circ pump filter and it had a gritty, brownish substance on the plastic part.  It even looks like something was eating away at the hard plastic.  What are we doing wrong?

How old was the water and what was the water chemistry?

I haven't had any problems with chlorine except when I let the water get away from me then the filter does get yucky!

Water was OLD....5 months and it was a little low on alkaline....everything else was good.  We use the Bromine tablets.

You have a Hot Spring, right?

Make sure you are rotating the duty on the grey stack.  Give every filter a little time on it so that one doesn't take the brunt of all the water coming through.

Brown deposits are most likely bromine coming out of solution.  It is brownish in nature.
