Filter question
« on: June 01, 2007, 12:38:24 am »
I have a Caldera Martinique, it came with a 50 sq/ft filter, the manual says it has a 75 sq/ft effective filter area. I asked the dealer about purchasing a second filter but a 75' filter and he told me that a larger filter would put more strain on the pumps and that I should stick with the 50' filter.  I am just wondering if anyone has any input on this. Does a 75' effective filter area like the manual says mean that I can use a 75' filter????

Sometimes adding more Sq Ft is counterproductive. If the added material causes the pleates to be too tight together to teh point that they're almost lying on eqch other then it can restrict flow. I believe that's what your dealer was referring to. I'd stick with the filter that came with the spa.
