Obviously a bit of over-the-top hamming it up for the camera's benefit.  That is a HotSpring Spa with ZERO dangerous suction fittings in the spa, therefore, "Jack" could not have been entrapped by the insidious bypass valves prevalent in other spas.

I despise movies that don't take the time to do the research and use the correct props, ie The Matrix, when Nemo is firing the HK MP-5 9mm submachine gun and .223 brass is seen hitting the ground.  It ruins the whole movie. >:(

Yup, I almost left the theater when I saw that obvious gaffe but fortunately the great acting skills of Keanu Reeves saved the movie from mediocrity and vaulted it into the category of an American Movie Classic.
