I'm back....gotta a question
« on: May 03, 2007, 02:28:55 pm »
Hi gang!  I've been off doing other things...like getting our house remodel done. Finally, the bathrooms are done and the hardwood floors are down.  Backyard looks awesome and we have some tiny projects left, but otherwise--we're done! How's everyone?

Gotta question...we're going to empty the hot-tub for the summer.  We just aren't using with any regularity.  I know to keep it covered to protect the shell, but how do I get all the water out of the hoses, etc. so bacteria doesn't build up there?

Hey, post some pics of the remodel!

You can use a shop vac to suck out the last remaining water from a tub.

Yup- shop vac.
Put the nozzle on each jet.
I was amazed at how much water I got when I did that.

It was several gallons- at least 3.

It will be almost impossible to get all the water out, but if you shock a day before you drain and then of course shock when you fill it back up it will be fine.

Tip the spa on it's side and shake out any excess water.

How expsoensive can it be to run the spa with water though for few months? IF no one uses it during the summer, it should be very cheap.   Might be more work to empty, clean and refill it and another chore to do in the fall?

Thanks for the tips.  It's at that point where the water needs to be changed, so just figured we'd empty it and wait til fall or fill as the need arises.

Drewstar..."tip the spa on it's side..."

Geez...why didn't I think of that.  Thanks!  ;D

I'll post some pics but I don't remember the image place I used before.  Give me some sites to try.
