OK, not really on topic, but I ask for a little leeway.

I'm going to San Francisco this week, and I need suggestions on how to fill one free day.

I liked the Exploratorium - I used to teach High School and I took the kids there every year - but the wife unit is coming and may want something more like a show or museum.

Doc, will you be around to buy us dinner? Would it change your answer if I bought?

How about a nice drive over to Sausalito?

Yes, we have done that before - I recall a Chinese restaurant just on the other side of the Bridge that was great. Live lobster, lots of choices, view of the bay.

Might be a good place to hit.

More ideas?

Hey! You'll be visiting the *real* california, huh?

Depending on what you are into, I'd suggest golden gate park or pier 39. The park has not only the big museums, but also a japanese tea garden that is great. The DeYoung Museum has both permanent ans temporary exhibits, and the CA Academy of Sciences is great, but it may be under reconstruction now. The Tea Garden is wonderful, and worth a little time as long as the weather is ok. Check out

Pier 39/Fisherman's Wharf is as touristy as it gets, but it has lots of little shops and people watching and street performers, etc.

Depending on your plans, if you can use public transportation, I'd strongly recommend it over dealing with parking.

One of my customers told me that the bath houses were fabulous.  You might want to check them out and see if they're all that.
