Purchased a 2007 Maxxus last week. Won't be in for about a month, but I have to get the pad poured and the electrical run anyway. Asked the dealer about chems (bromine vs chlorine, etc.) and he said that the filters in the 800 series only need to be changed about once a year and that you don't have to clean them once a month, etc. He also said that they recommend a dichlor shock once a week and that's it, the ozone does the rest. There is a mineral cartridge similar to the SpaFrog. No teaspoon of dichlor after use and such. Both these ideas are totally opposite from what I did with my former Marquis. Anyone wish to comment?txwillie
reminds me of one of those home improvement house flipping shows I saw this weekend. The owner, (who I felt was a real bag with a nozzle at the end of it.) was showing off his swim spa...the type with the large pumps that create a strong current to swim upstream, told the host "Oh yea, this has a new filtration system in it. I don't have to ever add chemicals, and only clean the filter once a year. This water is cleaner than your drinking water!"He then dips his head in the water and takes a gulp.Waiting to see him on next week on the medical channel "Strange disentary disorders"
I think he's wistling Dixie, myself. Sounds like sales hype to me. I don't think too many are getting a year out of the disposable filter...six months is probably more realistic. A dichlor shock once per week along with a mineral cartridge and ozone will not keep that spa sanitized in my experience. A better way is dichlor after use with MPS shock as needed along with the mineral cartridge and ozone.
