Executive dies in faulty jacuzzi

I read an article this week, I wished I had saved it but it said 4 million people used their spa this week with no injury.. only great pleasure. And these were above ground spas, unlike the one in this article that is mentioned here... 8-)

What's really impressive is that almost 1/4th of them were in HotSpring Spas!

Vinny I used to spend alot of time in political debate mesaage boards.

A whole lot of time.

I am a Reagan/Gingrich conservative.

Of course they wouldn't agree, but I think I slam dunked and kicked alot of liberal's ass in those message board clubs.....but the daily time spent researching/sourcing information and the "ugly bloody battles" grew tiresome....so for the last year or so I am "taking a break".

So I joined a music message board and a hot tub message board basically to escape and relax from the daily grind of political warfare. (and more importantly to spend time away from liberal political thought...lol)

And then I find it amazing in these non-political message board clubs I still can't escape them!....LOL  

As far as being a "good corp exec" I let the free market, consumers, and my employees decide that on a daily basis....they are all free to make other choices. However I will add that Southwest Airlines and Herb Kelleher in particular are my heroes as far as corporate entities....."without it's people a corporation is nothing".[/i]

If you believe and live that moto then I would consider you a good exec.

I don't consider myself a liberal but I'm not quite a capitalist either. I truely believe in the free enterprise system but unfortunately in a world where the higher execs get millions of bucks as perks as they cut benefits of their people, this is a problem.

I work for a large corporation and quite honestly they don't have the moto of  "without it's people a corporation is nothing".[/i] They know only of numbers and don't have business sense. Maybe all the way on top they think it but the lower execs don't practice it.

I've become cynical when I see things and see that unless it trickles down, nothing will get done about it - to me the people doing the daily job are the ones who should be giving input - I'm not saying it'll be 100% correct info but it may be valuable info.

This is the last I'll mention of it other than answering Ehizzle - I don't and didn't want to debate you.

Vinny, You mentioned you like one. Who's that?

Unfortunately, I never got his name but he was the CEO of a textile mill in Conn (I want to say Polar Fleese but I'm not 100% sure). It was the whole story behind it that makes me like this person.

He had a new mill built and it burned down. He pulled his people together and explained to them that he will take care of them, paying them full salaries as long as he could. His reasoning was without them he wouldn't be where he was financially. He also promised to hire everyone back if and when a new mill was built.

His workers got together and worked on a plan to get the old mill operational again and in a very short time they had the old mill at full operational capacity. They worked three shifts and the CEO said that they were actually producing more with the old mill than they had with the new mill.

He attributed it all to the fact that if you treat your workers right, they will work harder for you.

I truely like this story and I believe that this business model should be an example of how a business should be run. There may be more of these examples but this has always stuck with me.

I applaud a CEO that thinks that way!

It is so true what we do as people can so many times make such a huge difference even though it it can go unnoticed and sometimes unappreciated , but workers pulling together can make all the difference in the world when they know the subtle little things that when put together with everyone else's effort make a world of difference.

Until every old spa or pool is retrofitted properly, and every new pool/ spa eliminates the possibilty, there will be no end to this. I can understand the inability to think rationally in a panic situation. Hopefully, something good will come of it over there. But unfortunately, there's hundreds of other occurences you never here about.
You here about it when it's some executive, jack nicholas' grandson or at tommy lee's kids' party. It's not news worthy enough when it happens to a child of one of regular folk.

I guess the CEO of Siemen's doesn't They made a pre-christmas announcement the they are closing their Ohio Manufacturing facilities to Mexico. Soon we will be sneaking accross the border for jobs.  I hope they print the applications in English too, provide translators and allow me to press 2 for English when I call the welfare office.

No more Seimen's breakers in my house or tub.

I thought you were maybe a "business basher".

Sometimes on a message board it is hard to understand "context".

I always tell people that hate corporations there are countries
like North Korea that have no corporations if they want to go
try a "no corporation life style"....LOL

Although many times they are demonized by the press I think
business and corporations do immense public good.

I totally agree with you about some executives.....some of them are corrupt
like those at Enron and should be sitting in jail a long time.

Other corporate executives get the big job and then forget about
who it is that makes the company go. THE PEOPLE!

Employees should be considered assets not a burden.

There are rotten apples in just about everything....police, politicians, clergy,
wives/husbands, hot tub dealers, so no big shock there are bad apple corporate
executives.

I have always believed that it is in a company's self interest to "spoil" the
employees when possible.

Make it a fun place to work.....make it a lucrative place to work based on performance.

And don't do it necessarily out of the goodness of your heart.....
do it because it makes good business sense to "pamper your people".

Of course some people/employees will never be happy, but if you
pamper your employees it makes it hard for them to leave which in turn
give the company a steady low turn-over team of workers.

Treat employees how you would want to be treated!

You mentioned lucrative based on performance - my company has pretty much told us that we are all "3"'s on a scale of 1 to 5 because this is where most of the employees fit. It truely is a world of mediocrity and their star performers (like myself (trust me on this point)) are giving them mediocrity - no sense going at 110% if your being measured at 50%.

Of course I guess I should be happy I don't work for Siemans!

Scarry thing Bill is that Siemans is an European company and I thought they were a little more employee friendly than American companies ... I guess not.

As I said with automobiles, how many people in Mexico making these things are going to buy 200 amp panels and a bunch of circuits. Probably very few.
