Can you upgrade a Tiger River Pump
« on: December 06, 2006, 04:03:20 pm »
Hi, question for all HS dealers....

I have an '06 Bengal.  Wife wants a little more pop in the jets.

Can you upgrade the Wavemaster 7000 to the 9200?

Thanks

Mark

Do you have a converable (model M) or straight 220v (MM)?

I believe I have the straight 220 model.  I don't our HS dealer even orders the convertible model.

We may be opening a can of worms here.

If you have a single speed pump, you have the Wavemaster 7000, which comes with the convertable version.

If you have a 2 speed pump you have the 9200 already, which comes with the straight 220v version.

If you have the water feature, you have the 220v version.

The 7000 is a 110v pump and the 9200 runs on 220.   In addition to changing pumps, you would have to upgrade your wiring coming into the spa.  Don't know what else you would have to do.  Even if doable, I don't think it is practical.

More pop from your jet?.....................sorry couldn't resist.

I'd say you can do anything you want. Will it increase jet pressure? Probably. Will the manufacturer frown over the idea? Probably. If any thing happened to the BIGGER pump, dealer couldn't warranty it under the spa's five year parts and labor. Not much room to augment pump suction and discharge plumbing to different wet end and pump.

I'd be interested to see how you make out.

Same tub here '05 220v model.

Quick question, have you turned the outer bezel (outside ring) on your large jets fully clockwize?  Are you injecting enough air into your jets with the air control?  I usually turn my jets down from their full setting (too forceful sometimes).

Have you checked the voltage coming into your tub to make sure it is correct?

One last thing, with a single jet pump Watkins flow control valve never allows all jets to be on at the same time.  If the dial is a little off, water can flow out of a jet with very little force.

These are just a few things to check before you invest your time and money making changes to your spa.  From my experience, the pump on a 220/240 volt Bengal has plenty of pop.

Outer bezels are turned all the way open
Voltage is fine
Jets can be on at the same time if you put the jet selector in the 1 O'Clock position

Found a better jet selector position for power which is the 12 O'Clock position, which turns on the corner therapy seat, and
the jetstream jet in the lounger ....lots of pop.

It was more my wife's issue, but after the soak this morning, I' think she's fine with everything.

Thanks for the help though,

Mark
