Vinny, you wrote this in another topic.

Doc sells it for about $50.

The best part about it is all the reagents are available for refill and it's good for both tub and pool.

I even bought the huge 2 oz refills of R-0001 & R-0002 to test chlorine with. I did screw up and bought 2 small bottles of R-0014 instead of the big bottle of R-0004 but I have another tester and am using that for the PH.

Tell me how you test for chlorine using R-0001 and R-0002?  Maybe I should buy a bottle of each.  My taylor test kit(K-2006) requires the use of 2 dippers of the powder R-0870 then the use of drops of R-0003.  Using drops sounds much easier.  thanks.

All you do to test FC is fill tube to water line and add 5 drops each of R-0001 and R-0002. Then invert to mix and record results. Then to test TC all you do is add 5 drops of R-0003 to the mixture, cap, invert, and read immediately. Take the TC-FC=CC.

Thanks Tileman.   I'll buy a bottle of each that try the drop (rather than powder) method.

The K2006 test kit has a color/no color indication from what I've read, I don't think you can use the vial that comes with this kit.

The chlorine reagents used in the K2005 kit are calbrated to the 9 ml vial and has the colors representing the various chlorine levels printed on it.

I've never used the K2006 but have thought about buying it years ago. I've read the abbreviated instructions and it does seem a little harder than the K2005 kit but apparently it's even more accurate.

If you do decide to use the R-0001 & R-0002 just make sure you can use it with whatever vial you have for the other kit. If not I think you can buy a simple DPD kit from Taylor that measures just PH and chlorine.

OK. I understand.  My test tube has a large tube and a small tube side. The small side is marked 1.8, 4.5 and 9 mL, but has no color graduations.  Looks like I won't be able to use the R-0001 and R-0002 test bottles.  thanks for the info.
