not hot enough
« on: November 07, 2006, 10:19:54 pm »
Well the little guy went in today with daddy for a soak.  That was his reward for letting me cut his hair today.  I dropped the temp down to 102 for him.  Tonight the wife and I went in with baileys on ice and I forgot to raise the temp.  We went in at 102 and it sucked.  I am use to the winter temps of 104 and it is awful dropping it down in the cold air.

So 104 is my minimum for the next few months.

Wow, you're hard core bosco. I like it around 100 degrees this time of the year. It was 92 degrees at my place today though.

today was 6 degrees.  Not to cold but it is getting there.  I think you would like it hotter with colder weather.

Some would say you're kinda wimpy bosco with that 104 temp water!! 6 degrees today - where in the heck do you live? It was 50ish here in Chicago and my water was at a very comfortable 100. When it gets down into the teens and twenties, the water goes up to 102. The 104 max melts me down to a limp noodle. And at 5'11" 165 lbs, I don't need to lose much more weight!!!

OOPs sorry forgot about you americans out there.  6C is 42.8F.  But still 104 all the way.  When it gets down to       -30C this winter and a windchill making it feel like -50C, I will be pumping my tub up to 107 again.

Most tubs can do that last 2 degrees pretty quickly. In the scenario you mentioned, I raise the temp, and go back in the house for 30 minutes.  This time of year I change the temp a lot.  The other night we soaked at 19F and the tub was 104.  Tommorow night the temp will probably be 60F and I'll cut it back to 102.

I keep my temp locked at 102 now.  A while back my kids accidentally raised the temp to UT4 (approx 106).  I felt like a lobster in a pot.  We have yet to go below freezing here in the mid-atlantic.  When it does go below freezing, I may try 103 or even 104 to see how it feels.  For right now however, 102 feels "just right"  ;)

my tub only went to 104 as well, but someone on the board told me how to play the the switches on the circuit board to allow tub to go up to 107.  It was a nice option in those really cold months.

I am finding that we all can QUICKLY hop in when I set it at 100.  Many times, the actual temp is for sure one degree of not 2 degrees above that.

When it's freezing, getting submerged quickly is very important!!

Once we're all in, then I turn up the heat.  :)

I tested my soaking max temp the other day. I like to soak for atleast a half hour and wasn't able to handle anything higher than 103 for that long.
