Question about Swirl Away

I am getting ready to empty my tub for the cold months ahead and was wondering if anyone could help me out.  My tub is almost a year and a half old now.  I have not used swirl away and I dont want to buy it if I dont need it.  My tub has been issue free since i have had it.  Should I use swirl away and if so, what exactly does it do and how do I use it?  

Any help would be appreciated.  I hope to drain it this week sometime.

ok, so I guess I pour it in the water now, and then drain.  But when I drain the tub, do I have to fill it and drain again and then fill.  

If I just drain and fill, will the reminents in the lines cause any issues to my water??

You certainly don't need it.  Clean, sanitized water filling your spas plumbing doesn't necessitate the need for a plumbing cleaner.  That being said, I like to use Swirl Away every other fill because I like what it does to my jets.  Everything spins and moves a bit better.  I still get a little gunk from the system, but nothing like the first time I used it.  The product is very inexpensive, easy to use, so its just the bother of adding half a bottle and running your pumps for a little bit before draining.

To answer...no and no.  Just spray a little bit with your hose.

It definitely wouldn't be worth the effort if you had to fill and drain again.

One other thing...I like Swirl Away better than some of the other cleaners out there (namely Leisure Time jet clean).

Spa System Flush isn't too bad either.  Remember to use only half a bottle.

I just called my arctic dealer and they have an arctic brand called fresh start.  I am pretty sure that it is just another brand relabeled.  I still think that I will pick it up.  My dealer recommends running the jets on high for 2 hours before I drain.  That seems a little high to me.

There's several brands out there and you will be amazed at what they will do for you. I have used a few different brands with the same results on my tub and several customers tubs. I have never refilled and drained after but I think it is recomended on a few of them. Just make sure to rinse out your tub thourouly with your garden hose. And for that matter force some water into the upper jets and you will rinse stuff down to your floor jets. Or stick your hose in your filter compartment and let it run through the system and out your lower jets and out your drain.

Yeah, Swirl Away directions say 15 minutes.  Two hours sounds high.

I thought that 2 hours was to long as well.  I am going to use it on Friday on my day off.  I just contacted the dealer and he is loaning me the hose that helps drain the tub quickly so I can have a quick turn over.

I used swirl away at the 1 year mark. I poured in the tub and left overnight. I probably ran the jets for about 1 hour. My thinking was I won't be using the tub anyway so why not.

I did fill, run the pumps again to flush out the system, drain and filled  But I'm anal about certain things and I only plan on doing it yearly ... if I was doing it more than that, I would possibly rethink the dumping of new water.
