Stabilizer?

I just did a fresh refill and am still trying to figure out how to adjust the chemicals.  Everythng is reading perfect except Stabilizer and it reads very low according to the test strips.
I always thought Stabilizer was shocking the spa.....Am I wrong?  Do I need a purchase a chemcial to bring the Stabilizer reading to were it should be?

Stabilizer is Cyanuric Acid, or CYA for short.  It is pretty much negligible in a spa, as all it does is keep the chlorine from being eliminated by the sun.  Since your spa is covered most of the time, you don't even WANT a high amount.

Your CYA will build up over time as you add dichlor or brominating concentrate.

Thats nice to know......These test strips confuse the heck out of me.....I never know which test matters and which dont - These strips have 6 readings and I was trying to keep them all perfect.  I need strips that show me ONLY what I need to worry about!!!  If there is any such strip.

Bromine Level
PH
Total Alkalinity
Hardness

That should pretty much cover it.
