Umbrellas

Haven't looked in a while but the last time we did all we could find were huuuuge bulky carport size umbrellas for hot tubs. I'd like something strong that swings around, tilts and folds up but not huge. It doesn't have to cover the whole tub but just big enough to get our eyeballs out of the rain and (hopefully) snow. What's everyone using?

Probably qualifies as big and bulky and unfortunately it is certainly expensive but I use the portofino umbrella on my deck. My spa is under cover already but I use this one for the table on my deck. I like it a lot and it has a nice lighting system. Can tilt and swivel as needed and closes and opens easily.

This site also has several other side post umbrella options. Might find them cheaper elsewhere. But the price offered here a year after I bought mine is substantially cheaper than I paid for mine. Not sure it includes the lighting system so may want to ask about that. Maybe they are on sale because they are going out of stock? But I don't know if that is the case.


Here is a picture of mine open with the mosquito netting on it. At this size it would probably completely enclose most spas!

Looks like this site has the same umbrellas. The one I have is the portofino pro with the lighting system and the burgundy sunbrella fabric.

Don't see the mosquito netting as an option on this site though it may be there somewhere. We use the netting all the time.

I don't have an umbrella.
In a pinch, I use the spa cover to keep the rain off my head.  The way my coverlifter works, it allows the cover to lean over part of the spa.  I am forced to sit in one of the seats on just that side of the spa, but it works fairly well for me.

What a terrific looking yard...the landscaping/fencing etc. is really super!  Did you guys do this project yourself?  

I noticed in one of your other camera shots you had the Leisure Concepts umbrella that fit under the tub.  Why did you decide to scrap it?  I have been told they were not that sturdy.

If you find the brand of the other umbrella please let me know.

Thank you for your kind remarks.  My husband and I built the deck ourselves, but we hired someone to do the landscaping and fence.

The Leisure Concepts umbrella worked for exactly one day - then it would not pivot.  We had to wait until we drained the tub 4 months later to pull the umbrella out (I actually did that myself) and return it to our spa dealer.  Only then did we learn that they were having a problem with those umbrellas.

I'll try to find out the manufacturer of the other umbrella and let you know.
