Trouble With PH
« on: September 27, 2006, 09:40:15 am »
I have been trying to lower my PH and Alkalinity since Sunday.  The PH is 8.2 and Alkalinity is 150.  I keep adding Spa Down once a day but the PH and Alkalinity are still high.  Any Ideas?

What method are you using to test these values?

Muratic acid is what I use to lower my outrageously high alkalinity tap water when I refill.  To me it's useful for large drops.  It will lower Ph and Alk.
A little of this stuff does a lot.

Just for a reference, our initial readings were pH at 9+ and TA at 290. We added 26oz of pH decreaser (Sodium Bisulfate) and got things down to 7.2 and 90.

Brewman,

How much Muratic acid do you use?  My spa is 400 gallons.

Thanks,

Mark
