Marquis dealers, a question for you
« on: September 14, 2006, 11:38:50 am »
I have been happily and successfully running my Epic in economy mode since early spring. I have my filtration cycles set for 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour in the evening right before we soak. My smart clean is also 1 hour.  My question is ...Why can't I stay in economy mode if I modify my cycles when a one hour filter cycle isn't sufficient to keep the tub temperature at 101?  Alternately, standard mode checks the temperature every hour( I believe it is every hour) by running pump 1 and will allow pump 1 to run and heat when necessary.
Is there a big advantage to standard mode?
I guess I am having flashbacks to my well problem and the plumber telling me a pump can run forever once it is on, it is the on and off cycling that causes it to wear out faster. Is that right?   :-/

Bonni, you should be filtering for 2 hours twice a day, try it and I think you will be fine.

Mendo, Do you mean if I up my times to 2 cycles of 2 hours each, I can stay in Economy mode all winter? that sound good and efficient to me. Thanks

Thanks, Mendo, I'll let you know how it works out as it gets colder here.

Drew, My first electric bill, without my constantly running pump..$181.00! Which was great because I was running my tub, my pool and air conditioning (all three zones). So that was a relief...my prior bill (and I was only using a whole house fan because I was afraid to turn on the air) was >$300.00! It really made a difference and I am so relieved! :)
