It looks like that ladder sacrificed it's life for your tub.

I would put it in a corner and honor it by never using it again! ;D

Wow!!! That was close.   Glad to see the house and tub were left untouched.

That was just Mother Nature warning you to stop cutting down perfectly good trees! ;)

Wow, that was a close call that could have done damage, but as an engineer that "proves" things, couldn't you anticipate the direction of the fall and proceed accordingly?  It dosen't even look like you cut a "wedge" that would determine the direction of the drop.  Don't you just hate it when that happens.

Whew! That WAS a close call... glad that you are not calling your insurance company right now. This calls for a celebration! I see a spa party coming in your near future!  ;)

Are the stumps from the other two trees? Looks like the stumps were from a tree that was at least partailly cut down. Or did one tree fall on another requiring the other two to be cut down?

Glad that the the house and spa survived in either case!

It appears from reading a bit more closely that you were cutting some trees when this one decided to join the fun on its own. Close call!

The tree that almost hit the tub was supposed to fall in the direction of the other two trees(to the right). I notched it that way, however wind came while I was cutting it and sent it in the wrong direction.

You can't see the stump from the tree that almost hit the tub.

I can tell you one thing, after cutting up trees all day the tub felt so good last night. It was 44 degrees outside when I soaked. I really enjoyed it.
This morning when I left for work is was 38 degrees.

Fall is here, winter is coming, which means snowmobile season is near.

If in fact you did "notch" the tree to direct the fall, the angle of the cut on the stump would be a downward angle of the missing "wedge", not an upward angle.

Nevertheless, we are all glad it worked out for the best.

However, as an engineer that "proves" things, you should at least recognize that pictures don't lie and in this case, the truth apears to be obvious.  ;)

Not positive but I think he said above that the stump of the one that almost hit the tub was not visible, no?
