I had to change a transducer yesterday and my big questions was where did they put it. I know it is mounted to the shell but where. I came with an idea and it worked great. I used a magnet on the shell side to find it. The magnetic field was strong enough.

Good idea, transducers are also usually only on flat surfaces of the shell, they don't know too well in bends or curves.
