What is the typicial cost to have a HotSpring or Caldera Spa wired as they have the breaker sub panel included.

the hook up on my old tub was about 150$
about 100$ for material and the rest for labor. but i have to say that i found an elektr guy in my subdevision.

Are you just asking for a connection of wiring already installed, or would you need all of the wiring and related components installed?
If you already have wiring and you only to have your connections made, I'd figure couple hundred bucks. �If you need a complete installation, it could cost over $1000 depending on your specific needs. Labor costs can be high if running your wire is complicated, if ground needs to be trenched, etc... Lots of unknown variables.
�I did my own wiring, and the cost of wire, conduit, breakers, etc... was over $200, probably closer to $300. �
If you need a service upgrade add another thousand or more onto the costs.
I'd get a couple bids and get a ballpark idea if I was you.
Make sure whoever does the job pulls the required permits and gets the required inspections- this isn't an area to cut corners.

I did my install approx 3 months ago and it was $950, but included the GFCI as my spa did not come with it. The electrician told me that added like $100 to the price. He put in dedicated 220 and ran conduit, etc. The price of copper wire has almost trippled over the past year!!! Even telephone cable is 3 times the price it was a year ago. I was paying $35 for 1000 feet of non-plenum cat5, now it is over $100.

Do it yourself. It's not hard to do. Go to your local home improvement store and buy a book on home electrical projects. I wired my entire house when we built it several years ago thanks to basic electrical information. I saved at least 4K in labor costs.

Cost of copper has risen to the point that people are stealing copper wire from local construction sites, stripping off the insulation, and selling as scrap.
Happened twice to large industrial projects in my area.

My cost was $525. Didn't even havnt have to wire very far.

I have heard of other paying quite a bit more.

I used the guy the dealer recommended. He ran 45 feet of cable and it cost $300. I buried the cable myself.

I live in NY, and just received three bids, $1800, $1900, and $2700. This included the following 220/50amp line installed through drop ceiling (35 feet), than a trench (40 feet) to cut-off switch, than line to tub (7 feet). Plus I have a chain link fence, less than 10 feet away which requires bonding to hot tub motor.

The $2700 guy must have been installing gold plated conduit

I had over a 100 foot run and paid $675. I had bids (4) ranging up to $1500. My advice is to get someone who specializes in doing spas as IME their prices were much cheaper than general electricians.

I'd say you might could save some cash if you do some of the trench digging.

I feel that I got a pretty good deal (brother of a co-worker did mine). I paid $180 for parts and $300 for labor.

Yep, what Brooke said. I paid $550 for 70 feet. We buried conduit under our side yard walkway when our house was built. The electrician basically fished it through the conduit. I had quotes up to $1,500 for the same job by regular electricians. Go with a spa electrician. Also, in most areas you technically need a permit. �

We have a great electrician that we recommend to our customers for their electrical. He typically charges around $600. That includes the GFCI disconnect box and up to 60 feet of wiring. With longer runs or trenching, the price increases.
Of course, adding sub-panels or increasing service to the house can make the price go up considerably.

I was quoted $500.00 for 75 feel on my last house. This time, I moved into a new construction that was already 85% built (parade of homes show house) and bargained it in when we were negociating.

I just had a 75' run completed. Received three bids ranging from $750 to $1200. My final cost was $850. The electrician specializes in hooking up spas. The biggest cost was for the copper wiring.

Only took half a day to complete the connection. Make sure you know if your city requires a building permit for this type of work.
