Hi, new to this forum!  We have a chance to get a Nahanni spa at half price (floor model). Is this a good brand? Anything we should be on the lookout for?
Thanks

Welcome tub squid.

What would half price be, is it from a dealer if so why would it be half price?  I would be cautious?

Since hot tubs are not marked up 100%, I am skeptical of 50% off. It isnt likely a dealer will sell at a price lower than what he/she paid because even selling at cost is a loss.

Nahanni is a brand produced by MAAX the makers of Coleman and Elite. Do not expect the same quality components, comfort and features you would get on the other brands mentioned.

This brand is sold by Home Depot in Canada...where is this dealer you saw it at?

Yes, it's at the Home Depot in Richmond BC.  Original price is $9600. On sale for $5000. Nahanni Glacier Gold....apparently there's nothing wrong with it, couple of small scratches. We're just in the process of making sure that we can get a full service agreement...

What about the components? How different?

Thanks....

MAAX makes nice tubs (Coleman) Good tubs (Elite) and Cheap Tubs (Nahanni)

Its a game of inches and pennies to make them cheaper. A little less fiberglass here, a cheaper control system using older technology, thinner acrylic sheets, less warranty, less insulation.

The perception of "its at Home Depot, they buy better so its costs less" is false. It may be true on some things. They get manufacturers to make things cheaper for them so they can sell it for less.  Ask a contractor about the Ryobi drills they sell there. They may look the same but they aren't.

HotTubMan hit the nail on the head.
Plus, I would add  the service (if needed) would be a concern.
I know the company that does the service for Home Depot spas in our area.
Average responce time to get service is 2 weeks.
If parts are required it's easly 3-4 weeks.

There's no way that spa was ever 9000. It's just a fake number to make you think you're getting a great deal. My advice is to take your $5000 if that's your budget, and do research and buy the best $5000 tub you can. Try to buy it from a local dealer so you can get serviced and so you will have someone to call. The Home Depot spa brands are never floored there long, a few months from now, it'll be something different. I would say Rayman had the best comment- "I would run away from this".

Perhaps you could tell me who you are, then I can tell Martha Hello for you. I don't see the Gizzies much.

Nice to meet you George. I talk to Kirk often, and see Todd once in a while. I'm at a new store in Gilbert, where Todd lives, so he pops by occasionally.
