If you use MPS to shock with you can use the tub in as little as 15 minutes, I usually wait 1 hour. If you are using chlorine based shock you should wait until the residual is back down to around 3ppm

Don't shock prior to going in! Make sure you have a decent sanitizer residual prior to but shock once you're done instead! Makes more sense that way as shocking and using the spa defeats the purpose really...
