What would you do (when to drain)?
« on: July 27, 2006, 04:00:47 pm »
I am going away for a week at the end of August. I was also going to change the water about the same time.

Should I:

A. Drain the tub before I leave and leave it empty for the week.

B. Follow the normal pre/post vacation procedure and drain after I come back.

C. Do not add any chemicals (have an ozonator) before leaving and then change the water after.

Thanks for any help.

Drain and refill before you leave for vacation and hit it twice as hard with dichlor, that way when you get back it's on, warm, and waiting for you.

I agree do the change before you go and smoke it with chemicals so it is good when you come back.

I also think you should drain and re-fill before you leave.  Your ozonator and silver (do you have that) should keep the spa clean and clear for you when you get back.  However, I don't think you need to overdo it with chemicals.  If you have a good CD ozone generator and silver cartridge, you'll be fine.

I would not drain and leave empty.  Spas want to have water in them.

I opt for B also. Leaving it dry is never good even though a week probably wouldn't matter. But why change anything. Just make sure it stays sanitized while you are away and drain when you get back. Or do it before you leave if you have time.

I am also going away for a week in August and plan on doing "B".

I plan on messing with the tub after vacationing.
