From a Moorea to a Vanguard
« on: June 24, 2006, 07:38:12 pm »
A while ago I posted 'Caldera Moorea and other stuff'.  The Caldera salesperson was an idiot, as determined by me and others in the forum.

Today dw and I drove 50 miles to see a HotSpring dealer, who also happened to sell Caldera (the dealer mentioned that they are only one of 3 or 4 in the country that sells both),  they were extremely more knowledgeable.  Some of the answers they gave us was like listening to the folks in here.  When we asked if they would travel 50 miles if there was a warranty problem, without batting an eye they told us, 'if we sell it, we'll fix it'.  In fact their electrician lives where we do.

Next we started talking price.  They were about $1200 cheaper than the first Caldera place we went and priced a Moorea.  This price included everything but stairs (the owner later said, 'hell we could probably throw that in too'.  The other Caldera dealer didn't include the throwins free.

Anyhow dw fell in love with a Vanguard, so it looks like when we make the plunge it will be a Vanguard from this dealer.

Bottom line, if you aren't happy with your local dealer do a little leg work, you may be pleasanty surprised what you find.  The price of the Vanguard with the extras (delivery, set up, starter chems, cover) was $7495.  Which I guess is good.

Since my dw works only 5-6 miles from the folks we really like (yes, she drives 50 actually 60 miles to work every day), it's a good chance from them.  We can stay in good graces by buying chems etc. from them too.
