Sundance head reasts bubbling

Hey guys, I have had the tub for less then a year and the head rests along with the remote control' rubber exterior have bubbled and have pailed in color.

The bubbling is like a pocket of air that seems ot get trapped underneath a layer of the rubber coating. Has anyone else had this?

I am wondering if this could have happened because I shock twice a week with the cover closed or if it would be because my PH was to high? A combination of both?
Perhaps another reason that I am not aware of?

I'm sure they have discolored because you shock with the cover closed.  Our are discolored because we used to use Bromine and it would run high all the time.  Now we leave the cover off for 5-10 minutes after adding dichlor or shocking and they look the same as 18 months ago.

Ours is almost 2 years old and we're not seeing any bubbling problems.

yes I do. Although when there a re alot of people the water level does go higher.

I will say that up until a few weeks ago the tub wasnt leveled corectly so one seat in particular part of the head rest would be a bit in the water.

The worst one with the bubbles never was in the water.

It isn't contact with the water that destroys pillows, it's the high level of chlorine or bromine gas that developes beneath the cover.  Leaving the cover open after shocking will help some, but the damage in inevitable.
That's why they aren't covered by the warranty of any manufacturer that uses them.

My dealer recomened keeping my water line below the pillows to prolong thier life.  

Are you saying that doing so is negligable?

But what would cause the air pocket bubbles?

I just replaced mine after almost four years, not because of any bubbling but because they faded a bit.  The fact that you have trouble with head rests and the remote control certainly indicates a chemistry problem.  Shocking with the cover closed would do that as well as ozone, if you have it.

That may be true for some, but others who've posted here have reported that their spa pillows went bad fairly quickly when kept under water contstantly.  
So perhaps it's true either way.  The headrests on my Optima are in mint condition after 3 years, not soaked in water.  And I've used 3 different sanitizers in that time- Baqua, Bromine, and Dichlor.  I don't keep my cover open much other than using the spa.

My one year old Maxxus headrests started peeling.  I have since removed them all and I am now head rest free.  Sundance has warranted my headrests and will be sending me new ones however, I'm not putting them on.

Now, wouldn't you be happier if your spa had been designed to be comfortable without padded headrests?
